Claim Administration: COBRA Administration

Many times employers are not aware of the liability and risk involved in handling their own COBRA administration. Missing just one deadline could mean a significant lawsuit.

H&A Administrators helps employers with 20 or more employees manage their continuing group health benefits to employees as required under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA).

As an employer you are required to provide initial COBRA notification to covered employees and dependents. This notification details an individual's rights upon experiencing a "qualifying event" and an explanation of the conversion privilege. Under COBRA, benefits are usually extended for up to 18 months or more. The extension is dependent upon the qualifying event.

A “qualifying event” could include:

  • Termination of employment
  • Reduction in hours worked
  • Employee’s death
  • Employee’s divorce
  • Medicare entitlement
  • Change in dependent status

Don’t miss your COBRA deadlines. Let H&A put its efficient and expert professionals to work for you. Contact us at Hanratty & Associates to learn more.
